Environment and Climate Justice Fund
Building Movements. Protecting Communities.
Southern Black Girls and Women’s Consortium’s Environment and Climate Justice Fund is dedicated to supporting organizations that are advocating for and building movements around environmental and climate justice that impact Black girls, women, and femme-identifying youth in the South. This funding opportunity is designed to support underfunded Black women and girl-led organizations in the South that are advancing environmental and climate justice through mitigation, resilience, and/or policy change.
Black women and girls are often the first to experience the devastating impacts of climate change: including flooding, extreme heat, air and water pollution, and climate driven disasters yet they continue to lead innovative, community-based solutions. In addition to climate change these same populations are adversely impacted by pollution generating industries severely impacting their quality of life. This Fund exists to resource those leaders who are building resiliency, advocating for equitable environmental and climate policies, and protecting the land, water, and air our communities depend on. By centering joy as both resilience and resistance, Southern Black Girls are building a future in which our communities have the infrastructure, resources, and power to survive and thrive amid environmental pollution and climate change.
